Self-care as an act of Self-Love

This is Part 3 of the 6 part series all about self-love. You can find part 1 HERE and part 2 HERE.

Self-care is an act of self-love, a beautiful one at that, that is often overlooked and taken for granted.

Self-care is the simple acts of your daily habits of attending to your needs that keep you a functioning and productive human being. These things are rarely seen as important. More than likely, you do them without even thinking about them or being present in the moment.

Do you plan out your day while you are showering? Get frustrated while rushing through your makeup routine? How about, watch TV while eating your meals?

I know I’ve done these things, and I am guess you have as well. Those behaviors are evident of a lack of attention to self-love.

If you want to create more self-love in your life one easy way is to cultivate it through self-care.

Take these daily moments of doing little things to care for yourself as opportunities to be mindful and present with yourself. Increase your intention and you will create big magic in your life.

Here are some ways to make the most of these self-care times of your day:

  • Slow down.

    • Give yourself more time for your self-care routines. This way you are not rushing and you can take the time to be in your body, appreciate your body, and show it loving care.
  • Go the extra mile.

    • Stop wearing clothing that makes you feel bad about yourself. If you feel better with clean hair or with a piece of delicate jewelry, then don’t skip those steps in your day. You don’t need to have a special event to go to for you to feel your best. Go the extra mile to make yourself feel great for your life, because you are worth it.
  • Express gratitude.

    • Engage with your body. When you feed it, dress it, wash it, etc. be grateful for your abilities to do so. Be grateful for all your body does for you on a daily basis and care for it with love and admiration.

You are given so many opportunities to show yourself love. If you want someone to care for and love you, then you need to start showing how you want to be treated. You get to define what are and aren’t acceptable ways for you to be treated, and it all starts with how you treat yourself.

Share with me in the comments below how you are going to express more self-love through your daily acts of self-care.

I want you to join me in the Self-Love Quest which is a free 5 day event of epic self-love.

Much love, Danielle
