IT’S OK FOR THINGS TO BE HARD

IT’S OK FOR THINGS TO BE HARD

I hate when things are hard. I resist, I fight, and I avoid.

When I was a kid and bad at sports, I cried to get my dad to take me home from basketball tryouts and I used my heart monitor as an excuse to sit out in gym class. I was scared of failing. I was scared of looking foolish. I had decided who I was: a failure. Therefore, I lived up to it. I stayed in fear because it was too hard.

Maybe you are doing this right now? Maybe you are avoiding working on losing weight, switching to your dream career, learning a new language, or asking out that gorgeous sweetheart you’ve been eyeing. You are holding yourself back because of fear. You are holding yourself back because it is too hard.

But it is ok for things to be hard.

In reality, it is when things are hard and you persist and overcome that you see huge leaps in your life. When you are able to overcome fear and push through to achieve something that you are scared of and that feels hard; then you feel true success. You feel like a badass superhero who can take on anything, because you were able to overcome your own limitations that your mind put in place for you.

Lately, I’ve been waking up at 5am to go to hot yoga. It’s hard. I really put my yoga practice on the back burner for about 6 months or so. Therefore, I suck. Every pose is so much harder than I remember it being. I don’t feel graceful or comfortable in my body. Some mornings I wake up and I don’t want to wake up, I don’t want to go to yoga, and I don’t want to do any of the moves.

But, I win that fight because I tell myself that I am someone who wakes up at 5am, I am someone who goes to yoga class 5 days a week, and I am someone who practices what I preach.
Sometimes things suck. Sometimes things are hard. But sometimes they are worth it because they help you be the person you truly want to be in this world.

Tell me in the comments below what is feeling hard for you right now.

Sending you so much love, Danielle
