Welcome to the Inspiring Women Series! My intention behind this series is for women of all backgrounds and stages of life to share what makes them love their life. My hope is that, through sharing this, you become inspired to live more of your own dream life that you love. If you are interested in being featured in this series please send me an inquiry at danielle@danielleyeager.com and I will send you more information. I am incredibly excited about this series because I see so many women floating through life not feeling engaged, happy, or loving life. I want everyone to love the life they are living and live to the fullest!

The inspiring woman being featured this month is the lovely Lauren Dobey, here is her story:

Tell us how you are living the life of your dreams?

My life has changed so much over the last 4 years that I barely recognize my old life anymore. Before, I was filled with a lot of uncertainty, lack of passion and an overwhelming feeling that my life was meant to have way more meaning and joy than what I was currently experiencing.  At the time, I was dealing with the collapse of my marriage and a career that felt like it was sucking the life out of me.  I was overwhelmed and experiencing insomnia because of all of the stress that I was dealing with.

A little over 2 years ago, I left that soul-sucking job and started my own business. Now my days are filled with meaningful work that excites and challenges me. In my career as a Freedom Catalyst, I work with women who desire to fall in love with their lives again. Seeing my clients uncover their hidden dreams and finally get lit up by the possibility of living a life beyond their wildest imagination is such a gratifying experience for me.

Aside from work, global travel is my passion. It’s what gets my creative juices flowing. It helps me cultivate a deep sense of gratitude because I have the ability to travel wherever and as often as I’d like to. I feel so fortunate to be able to experience new cultures and cuisines and to serve my clients from whatever time zone I’m currently in. This year alone I’m already scheduled to go to places like Mexico, Italy, Costa Rica, Belize, Dominican Republic, Miami and Sedona. If I didn’t have the courage to change the course of my life a few years ago, these opportunities would not be possible.

Also, I’m in a loving relationship with a man who is so amazing, caring and ambitious. I am still surprised that this quality of man exists; he’s that fantastic! It took a while to find him, but the heartache and all of the awkward first dates were worth it.

Seriously, some days I cannot believe I am living the life I am right now. I feel beyond blessed and grateful. It’s what keeps me going everyday and it fuels the work I do with my clients because I know that if I can create a life I am in love with, then they can too!

What hurdles came up on your way to getting there?

There were definitely some hurdles on my journey to where I am right now. I think hurdles show you how badly you are willing to work for something. Sure, some things will come easily, but if you are overcome the obstacles you will feel so proud of yourself for having done so. I experienced some hurdles figuring out how to productively structure my day since I had no one telling me when and where to be somewhere. (Not a bad problem to have, right??)

I also struggled a bit with nervousness when I started showing and telling people about my new business (and I had no idea how they would respond.)

Being vulnerable was another struggle when I started dating my boyfriend. I didn’t quite know the dating “rules” because it had been over a decade since I’d been on a date. Awkward.

What has been the biggest help in living a life of your dreams?

The biggest help in living my dream life has been to surround myself with supportive people, whether it’s a coach or a group of like-minded entrepreneur women. Ideally it would be both! I found that a lot of people in my life didn’t quite understand the journey I was on, so I needed a new space to grow and thrive in. I think it’s so important to be able to have a place to share my struggles and wins, and for someone to hold a higher vision for me than I can hold for myself. The encouragement to succeed and keep dreaming bigger and bolder has been a huge contribution to my success.

What would you say to someone who feels like their dream life is impossible?

I would show them examples of inspiring women who are living their dream life and tell them that if is possible for those women, then it is possible for her also.  I’d help her to break down her big dream that feels too far out of reach and we’d put it into manageable bite-sized pieces so that it didn’t feel so overwhelming. I’d also work with her on her limiting beliefs to shatter them so she can take aligned action and move forward.

I 100% believe that living your dream life is not only absolutely possible; it is your right!

How are you continuing to build a life of your dreams?

I continue to work with coaches to support me in bringing even more of my dream life into reality. They are able to help me get out of my own way and keep me moving forward towards everything I desire, and more! I’m still part of the entrepreneur groups, too. These groups are motivating, supportive and inspiring.  It’s awesome to be able to witness other people’s success and know that it is possible for me too.

Also a huge part of building my dream life is self-care. I need to make sure that I am operating super efficiently and that means to listen to what my body needs. Sometimes it needs a nap; sometimes it needs a glass of wine. The more I listen, the more she rewards me with clarity, confidence and the appropriate action steps. Overwhelm will get you nowhere, so I always recommend self-care activities to my friends and clients.
