Content vs. Happy

Do you feel you are really happy? Have you discovered what happiness really means to you?

Most people don’t spend a lot of time thinking about what makes them happy or what happiness means to them. Most people just feel their feelings and don’t think about it. But, are they really happy or just content?

Maybe you are wondering what the difference between being content and being happy is, and if it matters if you are happy or just content.

Being content is great. It means that you are generally satisfied with your life. It is a steady sense of well-being and things being alright. And that is why it makes a good baseline. But, happiness is true emotion, excitement, and a high that should not be missed just because you are in the comfort zone of contentment.

Contentment is a comfort zone because you may not be taking risks because things are “good enough” or out of fear of messing up what is working for a chance at something even better. However, this is where life is really lived. It is in the moments of courage, vulnerability, and risk that you will find true happiness or sadness. Either way you will be fully living and putting yourself in the position to experience happiness that will fill your soul. This is not something to be missed just to feel safe and content.

I have lived a lot of my life in the comfort zone of contentment. I did this because I was fearful. I was fearful of feeling depressed. When you have experienced severe depression it can take all of your effort to just feel content and it can be exceedingly hard to risk a failure or sadness that could take you back to that dark place.

I know it is hard. I know it takes bravery. And, I too have to work at it every day. However, I am not ok with just being content. I want true happiness. Therefore, I am going to take risks, live with courage, and open to vulnerability.

I would love to hear what risks you are going to take to bring more happiness into your life and move away from your comfort zone. And, if you want to have a little more fun exploring happiness in your everyday life then join the 21 Day Happiness Challenge.

Much love, Danielle

  7. I am still editing the video on how to light the smoker using this stuff. I honestly have no idea why anyone would buy that hard to light stuff sold at all the on-line bee stores. If I had sumac buds…. I’d use em’. I have a friend that uses pine needles and sycamore bark. It works well too. What’s a smoker contest?

  8. I’m now dived between the railotutlae and the salmon. Both look amazing.I also agree with the past poster who inquired about those mini cupcakes. For what we pay for the DDP, the dessert should be all three cupcakes!
