Inspiring Women – Kelli Freese

inspiring Women series bannerWelcome to the Inspiring Women Series! My intention behind this series is for women of all backgrounds and stages of life to share what makes them love their life. My hope is that, through sharing this, you become inspired to live more of a life that you love. If you are interested in being featured in this series please send me an inquiry at danielle@danielleyeager.com and I will send you more information. I am incredibly excited about this series because I see so many women floating through life not feeling engaged, happy, or loving life. I want everyone to love the life they are living and live to the fullest!

The inspiring woman being featured this month is Kelli Freese, here is her story:

Tell us how you are living a life you love?

I always knew that I wanted to be a stay at home mom but didn’t realize how hard of a job that it would be. When I decided to be an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach my main goal was to encourage others that were struggling with getting healthy. However, I realized that coaching others is a part of who I am. I still get to stay at home with my kids but the part of me that was struggling with “just being a mom” is fulfilled. I get energy from talking to a woman that is struggling with her Thyroid and she finally lost a pound or when I get an email and a client that is trying to get her family to eat healthier made a meal and her kids ate it, it is just exciting!

The best part of my job is that my kids are right there with me and will do Periscopes or give me blog post ideas to share with my clients. I have a helper that comes in once a week so that I can work and then my husband helps with the kids one night a week and on Sunday afternoon, this way it is really a family business and I get the best of both worlds.

What hurdles came up on your way to getting there?

I decided to go to school as we were moving to the Austin area and I started seeing clients right after I had a baby. It was really hard to find the balance that worked for me and my family. I felt like if I wasn’t always available that somebody wouldn’t hire me or that I wasn’t working hard enough and everybody would think I was a fraud. However, once I decided to set my hours and stick to them everything seemed to flourish.

I also got diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer at the beginning of this summer. I was pretty sure that that would discredit my ability to help anyone with health problems. However, it did the exact opposite. It has made me more understanding and approachable as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. I wouldn’t ever want anyone to have Cancer, but I am so glad that I have walked this road and come across the other side stronger, I call myself a Thyroid Cancer Warrior and love sharing my story with others.

What has been the biggest help in living a life you love?

Setting clear expectations and goals for what I want. Just saying that I want to make money or help others isn’t enough. Saying I want to make three thousand dollars to put in savings for our trip this summer and work with three clients that are struggling with gut issues is very clear and specific so that I know exactly what steps to take to achieve those goals.

What is the best lesson you have learned along your journey?

Listen to your gut. I made some pretty unwise decisions when I first started out. Deep down I knew that it wasn’t what I needed or wanted to do but felt like I should. If I had listened to my gut I would have been better off.

What would you say to someone who feels like living a life they love is impossible?

Living a life is not only possible but it is reachable and attainable! Don’t settle for a life that is just living, live today to make yesterday jealous!

How are you continuing to ensure you love your life every day?

I make sure to do one thing that I love each day. Running your own business isn’t always sunshine and rainbows but I make sure that the hard day is surrounded with what I love. I’ve also started hiring out some of the things I don’t enjoy, ha!
